The Modern Language Association (MLA)

It features brief parenthetical citations in the text which are keyed to an alphabetical list of works cited appearing at the end of the work. For over half a century, the MLA style has been widely used by schools, academic departments, and instructors, in addition to over 1,100 scholarly and literary journals, newsletters, and magazines and by many university and commercial presses.
