Required Courses for students in the Diploma Programme

1. Education Courses
   


• Assessment in the classroom
• Teacher School and Society
• Understanding the Learner
• Emergent Teacher
• Principles of Teaching and Learning
• Research Methods
• Technology in Education I and II
2. Language Arts Courses
   
   
• Correcting Reading (English specialists only)
• Reading in the Content Area
• Fundamentals of Literacy Development
3. Subject Area Methodology Courses (offered during the day for most areas)
4. Teaching Practice (3 weeks in the first year and 12 weeks in the second year) a total of 15 weeks.

Classes are held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday for most subject areas and Friday for Business.

There is need for half day release for the subject areas.

Examinations are held in December and May of each academic year.
